Day Seven: Library Walk & Banana Pops

Another super hot day, but the girls & I needed to come up with something fun to do during Spanish (no errands for us!), so we took a stroller walk up to the neighborhood library. Nothing fancy to do there...just returned some books, checked on an issue with Jack's library card & checked out a couple new books. They have a summer reading program we are participating in too, but it was kind of easy (read 10 books) so I'm waiting a bit before the kids turn in their sheets.

In the afternoon, the big kids and I teamed up to make a cold treat for dessert...frozen banana pops! It was on my idea list, but honestly we made them a) cause it was hot and b) because the bananas were nearing dangerously ripe! We stuck popsicle sticks in halved bananas and stuck them in the freezer while we melted chocolate chips in the microwave. Then we dipped the bananas in chocolate, added sprinkles (some of us more than others) and put them back in the freezer until dinner. It was easy and I just used what we had on-hand. Here are the finished products:

And they were yummy...my one big recommendation would be to take them out of the freezer about 15 minutes before you are going to eat them. Ours were a little to hard for awhile. EJ took hers to t-ball that evening and had a much easier time with hers...

In fact, maybe too easy...she was COATED in chocolate (and loving it)!!!

yummy! we do banana pops, but we add peanut butter to the chocolate and coat with pretzels. my kids end up looking like that as well.
