Floor picnic

Daddy was leaving and we wanted to have a family night before he left. No one could decide what we should do though...the kids wanted a movie night, but Mom & Dad thought that wasn't exactly spending time together. Mom & EJ wanted to go out to dinner, but the others weren't thrilled (and Olivia was a hot mess of teething, so really?). Family board game night? Not quite my best suggestion...

But then I hit jackpot...what if Dad goes and gets take out and we have a living room picnic? Seriously, it was the lamest picnic concept ever...Applebee's takeout on the foam letter blocks, but guess what? It was a blast!

As I plated food, EJ went running into the living room yelling "Family Dinner!" I was sold right there. Then as we all sat/laid down, Jack remarked "And there isn't even any wind tonight." Ha Ha! And the fun continued, but I won't bore you with all the cute things my kiddos had to say.

Time together as a family, especially family dinners, have been hard to come by for us this year. Matt is back in school at night & works and travels enough that we are just not together like we were in the fall. I am thankful for these special times we are able to fit in and I'm especially grateful that they seem to mean as much to our children as they do to us.
