Pop Tops

Do you drink soda in your house? I think it goes without saying that I do (Matt helps a little). Do you like to help people? Well, of course you do! You know what I love? When things you are already doing can help someone!

I'm sure you already recycle your soda cans, right? Well, before you throw that can into the recycle bin, take 2 seconds and pop off that little tab that helped you get to the caffeine in the first place (or is that just me that's desperate to get my Diet Coke open every time?). Save them in a Ziploc baggie or a cup or whatever you have, because the Ronald McDonald House wants them! Those little tabs can be recycled for money for the House!

How much money can you really get from that small little tab of aluminum? Well in 2008, our local Ronald McDonald House raised $21,085 from pop tabs. Not too shabby, right? That's because little things add up and the more people that help save, the more money we can raise to help families have a home away from home when their seriously ill children are in the hospital.

Interested in collecting tabs? Click here to learn more about the pop tab program as a whole or to find your local chapter. Or if you're in the Milwaukee area, our local web site has all kinds of information on how to collect the tabs here. Easiest way of all? Collect your tabs, get them to me, and I'll be sure they get to the right place!

We've been saving and donating tabs for almost 10 years. Currently working on one million with the help of local businesses. After multiple stays at the Ronald McDonald House of Milwaukee, it's just one of the many ways we give back.
