Buddies

Jack & EJ have a bond I cannot even explain. They play together all the time, they watch out for each other, they giggle together (a lot) and they fight like crazy too (but in a way that shows how much they love each other). I have never worried if the two of them would get along and be friends...because they have always been friends.

Now with the girls I haven't been so sure! Maybe because they are so close in age which made me worry about competition or maybe because EJ wants nothing more but to be BIG and Olivia is so little. At any rate, I wondered if these two could ever possibly be as close as the big kids are.

And then over the last month or so, I've noticed some incredible moments...

EJ chose to stop playing in the pool with Jack and went to get a bucket & shovel to play with Olivia.

EJ and Olivia playing "picnic"...not too much later EJ let Liv wear her new dance shoes.

I didn't catch it here but most of the time the girls hold hands in the car.

Like this...I swear this is not a posed shot.

I know we have a long road ahead (like the teenage years), but I am so happy about the love these two share.

well, Olivia has grown and does more things now than just gumming her toys. That give EJ a playmate..however...you won't have to wait until they are teenagers for them to disagree alot. I figure around the age of Olivia becoming four. Cats and dogs girl,
cats and dogs. Doesn't mean they still don't love each other, but that is when the real competition kicks in.

nothing warms a mother's heart more than to know their kids love each other. of course they will be amazing friends ... you've done a lot to foster a family of love and togetherness! love you and your "buddies" ...

It is those special moments that always stick in my mind. It is amazing to watch each of them develop and strenthen their bonds. And Tracie's right, you've played in integral part in fostering the "big hearts" in each of our kids. In between all the chaos, I'm glad you are reflecting on that.

and I third what Bridget said :)

The way you and Matt parent and value family and friendship so much has definitely played a role in all of the bonding. But I agree, there is not much better than seeing them be "buddies" and I LOVE the hand holding...my kids do that a lot and it seriously melts my heart (even though seconds later they could be fighting like animals!!)

I love watching the moments between Tessa and Sabrina as Tessa is getting a little older and becoming more of a person and less of a drooling blob. They argue and pick at each other but I get to watch them become sisters. So cool.
