Mapping Your Travel

This past weekend we visited Matt's Aunt and Uncle and I was reminded of this awesome gift idea! They LOVE to travel so when I saw this cool map at a friend's house, I knew we had to get it for them. Well, they love it as much as we thought they would and have it hung in their living room marked with all their travels past and future.

You see this map is backed with cork and comes with all these little pins. Red are places you have traveled, green are places you wish to go and then there are two special flags...one for your all-time favorite trip and one for your all-time dream destination. Fun right? They actually have an entire line of maps...world, usa, golf destinations, etc. Something for everyone!

Last week I also saw this cool map and just fell in love! I really like the design (and the price is much more affordable too), but I think my favorite part is how you mark your trips...

You scratch them off! Seriously, how cool is that?

From the detail photos, there looks to be a lot of color hiding under there. This would be so gorgeous with all those colors revealed by a well-traveled person. I can't wait to gift this one!

One last option that is completely free (but is for your desktop, not your wall) is this visited countries map. You click the countries you have been traveled to and it generates the html code for a lovely map like the one shown below. I may have borrowed someone else's map so that I wouldn't look so pathetic! There is a visited states version too...Maybe I should try that to make myself feel a little better??

Oh, you know this post makes me giddy, right?!? Maps and Travel! My favorite things!!! With the hubs' new gig, I'm hoping to put a little more travel under our belts and maybe have a need for one of these maps!! :-)

Those are AWESOME! We've always talked about doing it (even have the map!) but never put it on a wall. The scratch off version is a phenomenal idea-- Little Man would LOOOOVE that. :)
