Dollhouses

True to form, I have found many spectacular gifts (in my opinion) for the upcoming birthdays, but have been stumped on my own daughters' gifts.  So frustrating!  So, I started watching them play and they have started doing a ton of pretend play together...and nicely.  Olivia has also developed a love for making sure her Dora doll has a new outfit and shoes at all times (your doll is well-loved Meg!).  I'm thinking this means they are both ready for a dollhouse.

Given that their birthdays are so close together, we could easily give them this shared present and then smaller things just for them (although honestly, everything ends up shared in this house).  As they both need to be playing at the same time, I'm thinking we should go bigger (not crazy but shareable) and of course I'd like it to be sturdy, but other than that, I don't know a lot about dollhouses in general.

So, anyone in love with their kiddos dollhouse?  Anyone have a cute one on their wish list that they'd be willing to share a link to?

My girls are still crazy about dollhouses. They play all the time (and we have a couple variations).

Sophie has a Calico Critters house with cute little animal families that is my personal favorite. Got a great deal on the house online. The Learning Shop and Toys R Us carry them too.

They also love all things Playmobil. The potential problem with both of these is that they come with really small pieces. My little girls love little things, but not sure if that's good for Olivia yet.

I went for a larger dollhouse to accommodate barbie sized creatures and other things. Good thing I did, because Norah often uses it for stuffed cats. Hey - I don't care...she's playing with it!
Anyway, I have a kidcraft one (v. similar to the one R just got Belle). I got it at Costco for around $100 and it still looks new (minus a few stickers) 3 years later. I like their products. We have a KC kitchen that's held up great, despite kids crawling all over it.

YES!!! they do need a dollhouse...every little girl does :) Abbie absolutely LOVES hers and would now like a bigger one for barbie and so everyone can fit into the same house (although barbie and ken are really trying hard to fit into the mini doll house!) She has FP my first dollhouse (with 2 families because of a mistake but it's awesome!) We looked into the loving family one too but liked this one more for reasons i can't remember actually. i think it was just sturdier and cuter in general but it is smaller. I especially think Liv would love it...she's played with Abbie's many times! Good luck and I'm excited for your girls.. um, I kind of love dolls and dollhouses if you haven't figured that one out yet!! :)
