Summer is over...

It may not look like much, but this was my favorite place to be in the afternoon these past few months.  Girls snoozing inside while my boy and I pulled our chairs to face the sun and read our books side by side.  So awesome!

With the craziness of getting everything ready for school and the change in schedule, I kind of forgot about our lazy afternoons.  Yesterday I realized the scene had changed quite a bit.  Jack is now reading every day as part of his homework (while his sister's play/read around him) and I have been trying to read when he does (it's good to do my homework too, right?), but the scene is not quite the same.

The couch may be comfier than the deck chair, but it's just not the same without the sun and the breeze and the sounds of outside (no matter which filter I use on the image to warm it up).  Next thing you know, we'll be adding blankets to the mix.  Yep, just like that, Fall is here!

This weekend I'll be posting our reading lists from the summer.  I had hoped to get a book report out of Jack on his favorite book of the summer, but he's already a busy man.  Maybe I can still talk him into a guest post though...

You need to get comfy lounge chairs w/ thick cushions and then curl up on them w/ huge blankets!!!!!

It's nice you have reading time together regardless of the conditions. I agree summer is way better, but reading in front of the fire place with hot chocolate isn't too bad.

Karri- I really like the way you think!

Matt- Then you need to stay home from work to build us a nice fire.

Angie- It's Harriet the Spy. I am loving finding old favorites to share with him. Finding (emotionally) age appropriate books is tough!
