To Shawl or Not To Shawl?

I've been working on my Sidewalk Shawl CAL sporadically over the last week and actually had let it go until yesterday.  The above pic was mid-afternoon and then after the kids went to bed, I picked it back up and finished all but the fringe/edging along the bottom/sides.

I began this project as a wedding shawl for my friend and I love how it's come out...the pineapples are so beautiful.  But, I'm not sure how practical it will be for her to wear.  I'm not sure if it's just that I'm not typically a shawl-wearer, but it seems fussy to keep it where it should be.  I'm not thinking something you have to fuss with is what you want on your wedding day.  So, I think this might even add the fringe and gift this one or wear it myself...or something.

And this morning, I've been trolling Ravelry for some other options for my friend.  So, I need your opinions...what pattern do you think I should attempt for Julie's big day (I'll be using the same #4 cream yarn)?

 Help? Please?????

liked #3 and #6. #1 looks to much like a dresser scarf. The ones with sleeves..well, if her dress has sleeves or caps, would they bunch up.
Don't know how fancy her dress is.

I'd go with the green cardigan. In fact, I want to make one myself.

I'm drawn to #4 & #5 but that doesn't necessarily mean anything given it's not for me :-) Have you asked Julie what she'd like?

The shrugs are all nice options- easy enough to wear again, and not too difficult to keep on

I love the first one! I am partial to pineapples, however. It would be able to have a dual purpose as well.

I like number 3 and number 4. If Julie's dress is sleeveless then number 4, if not then number 3. Does that make sense?

I love the floatiness of number 3. :)

I like the shawl option. You can get a pretty brooch to use to keep it on.

I like #3 and #4 the best. Will sleeves work woth her dress? I'd definitely ask your friend what style she'd prefer. Something that stays on itself or something she needs to ffasten?

I like 1, 3 and 6 best.

I agree the sidewalk shawl is a bit funny, i find mine doesn't wrap very well. I even made it bigger and it just is a weird shape.

#3. Unless her dress is like that of #1. Then #1.
I wouldn't do a shrug-- I wouldn't want to be pulling something on and Off on my wedding day- just something to easily toss on my shoulders when I am chilly and take off when I am warm enough...over and over again :)
I also like that #3 could easily be worn with many other things

Totally depends on the bride and her dress. If she's wearing sleeveless than maybe she'd like #4. I'd like that one best.

The sidewalk shawl is very pretty. I love the pineapples!

You could still give it to her. ♥ She may not wear it much on her wedding day, but will always think of you and her special day, when she does wear it... I do like the shrugs, too. How much time do you have before the wedding?

The shrugs all look nice and would at least stay on.
A big shawl would be difficult for the bride.
There sure are some nice patterns to choose from.
Enjoy crocheting for your friends big day.
