Today I turned 43 and the kids (and Matt) were very excited to spoil me.  I had wanted to get tacos at a neighborhood restaurant, but Taco Tuesday brought in the crowds and the wait was too long.  SO we moved to a more mellow favorite down the street.  We are so lucky to have so many great options so close to home.

Then we came home for cake.  I think it's kind of mean that they put an accurate number of candles on there but they were very excited.

They were also very excited about the penguin they made me.  They had filled him with candy and gift cards and small presents and meant for me to destroy him to get all the items out, but...

Could you destroy the penguin when this sweet face was so proud of her creation?  I made Matt make a hole in the bottom that could be easily covered and pull the items out for me.

I used some birthday money to buy myself this IKEA cart I had been eyeing.  So now I can keep my WIP close at hand in the living room without there being bags on the floor.  Sure it's still kind of an eyesore, but in a cute little cart.

I also got this fun little bag from a friend.  I love it and I think it's pretty darn accurate too!

Outdoor Skating Rink

Some awesome people in our neighborhood have created an outdoor ice rink in our local park.  It is free to use thanks o their hours of volunteer time and the kids could not wait to check it out.  I found a pair of used double runner skates for sale online for Olivia.  We had a pair of adjustable skates from when my nephew was younger for EJ.  And Jack is wearing my old skates!  Lucky for him, my spine surgery ended my skating career (as if), so my skates are all his!

This was our first time out and they all did great.  Jack has skated before (but not a lot), but the girls have never skated.  It definitely helped that I was not on skates, so I could walk people around the ice a bit.  Matt & I traded off the girls based on who was going faster at that moment.  I see many visits in our future!
