These baby blankets started out very differently (I talked about them here), but early on I switched to this classic look. I liked the striping of this blanket ad the fact that there were no holes for little fingers to get caught in. The pattern is from One Little Rayndrop. And the yarn is Caron Simply Soft in Berry Blue and Watermelon.
I decided to use my favorite frilly border on both blankets as a contrast to the simple stripe. To do this border, do one round of single crochet, then a row of two double crochet stitches into each single crochet, then a final row with two double crochets in the same stitch and then one double crochet in the next stitch (alternating every other around the border).
I feel like a classic blanket like this is one that can age beyond the baby and toddler years. I hope these are loved and useful.
