Back-to-school

It's here...we did it...Jack is officially a big kid who goes to school all day! Seriously? When did that happen??? In true big boy fashion, he picked out his outfit for the day complete with the shoes he chose himself last week...too much for a mama to take!

Truth be told, I was going to wait on this post until I finished our summer project posts, but two things pushed me to do it now. 1) Someone's Grandma may have emailed me around 11:45 saying she hadn't seen photos yet and thought I "must be slipping" (yes, she raised me, she knows taunts work) and 2) A very special package I received today that I wanted to share. So, here we are...

The girls are sleeping so I took a little extra time to put this together for you (yes, I am sure there is an easier way than the path I took, but I don't know it, so it took me quite awhile)...what a difference a year makes huh? Drop-off for JK in 2008 & this morning's drop-off...

So, what did the girls do after we dropped off Jack and Daddy headed to work. First, EJ complained about not wanting to play with her toys, then we made cookies for a special post-pick-up snack, and then...dance party!

EJ break-dancing (well in her own special way)...

This is her doing some sort of spin move. She was not doing the robot (although she does do a fine robot if you must know).

Olivia getting in on the action (later she had to get some shots, so I'm glad I caught her having fun beforehand)...

And this may or may not be EJ copying me by singing into a spatula. No photographic evidence of me doing it, yet torture for her for years! :-)

So, I was so good this morning...no tears at all! Just a pit in my stomach as I could see Jack getting nervous anxious in line waiting forever to get inside. I know (hope) that he will do fine once inside, but he is very much like me and waiting is hard! Anyway, I was very proud of myself for not crying...then I got this little package from Tracie...let's just say all bets were off on the waterworks (good thing there were tissues inside)...

So sweet, right? I'm actually upset for not thinking to do anything for the special mommies in my world! So, I'm sharing, but if some of you get one of these in the coming years, just pretend you never saw it (and that is was all my idea too). Here is a close-up of the wording...

So far, so good today...I did panic at 10:30 that we needed to race out the door to pick up Jack (our old time). I guess the trick now is going to be remembering to wake up EJ and get out the door in time this afternoon! I can't wait to see him and hear all about his new school adventures!!!

I love this post, H.

Maybe because our Gracie starts full-day Kindy next week, maybe because I love the Run DMC t-shirt...but I do love it.

Keep up the great work!

Awww!! Lovin' the photo of Jack! (He's got impeccable taste, btw!) I hope his first day was fabulous@

And that Tracie . . . she's too much, no?! That prayer made me cry, and I haven't had a kindergartner for several years now!
